PDP Thank You Visit to Inyi Community in Ndokwa East Turns into a Voluntary Mass Defection of APC Members to PDP
Sunday, March 2nd, 2025.
The Ndokwa East Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by party chairman Comrade Henry Emili, commenced a community-to-community thank-you visit around Ndokwa East to celebrate the overwhelming victory of the PDP in the 2023 general election. Inyi community was the first stop. What was initially anticipated as a simple thank-you visit evolved into a platform for the voluntary mass defection of APC members to the PDP.
All the APC members who defected to the PDP stated that they left the APC because they observed that the individuals who had been detrimental to the PDP—those who held positions of authority for many years and were characterized by greed and self-interest—had switched to the APC. Consequently, the former APC members no longer felt comfortable remaining in their party, especially now that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, recently nicknamed “Mr. Development” by Deltans, has begun reforming the PDP in Delta State and silencing critics with projects throughout the state. The defectors expressed their excitement about the opportunity to breathe fresh air as members of the PDP.
PDP chieftains in the community, including Mr. Lucky Dikadi, Comrade Emmanuel Obah, and Mr. Raymond Nwabuokei, spoke in unison, urging the remaining opposition members in Ndokwa East to follow the example set by Inyi community and join the PDP. They emphasized the need for unity to attract more development to Ndokwa East.
Also speaking at the occasion was Barr. Princess Odu Bardi, a community leader represented by the local government party treasurer, Mrs. Uju Odu. She highlighted the importance of unity within the party and encouraged teamwork for the progress of both the party and Delta State.
A highlight of the event was the launch of the Sheriff_Ezechi Crusaders for Good Governance (SECGG), a pressure group dedicated to fostering good governance at the grassroots level in Delta State. This group aims to showcase the strengths of the PDP in comparison to other political parties across Nigeria. It is committed to rallying support for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Rt. Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi, and other PDP candidates as the 2027 general elections approach.
Additionally, Mr. Amechi Tuya was appointed as the interim chairman of the PDP in Inyi Community. The party also empowered several dedicated youths in the community who have long supported the PDP. This empowerment initiative was supervised by the PDP Ndokwa East Party Chairman, Comrade Henry Emili, who stated that the PDP is no longer a party where one person works while another reaps the benefits. He emphasized that the reward system in the PDP has completely changed in Ndokwa East and Delta State; now, those who work will benefit, especially with the departure of self-centered and greedy individuals from the party.
Other notable attendees included Ward 3 PDP Chairman Mr. Cyril Anene, PDP Ward 3 Woman Leader Comr. Cynthia Isicheli, PDP Ward 3 Secretary Azuka Obah, Comr. Eugene Nwabueze, Comr. Benald Omolu, Mr. Edwin Aniutchi, Comr. Frank Nwaoko, Comr. Andrew Ndupuh, Comr. Ifeanyi Onyia Edmoson, Ossai Nwanneka, Comr. Obiosa Collins, Comr. Ndudi Anene, and Mrs. Rebecca Chukwuji, among others.
