NDOKWA KWALE LIGHT PROTEST: ‘Step Down IPP Movement’ Storms Abuja, Praises Rt. Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi’s Legislative Prowess and Commitment.

Abuja, Nigeria – A significant wave of discontent swept through the National Assembly Complex yesterday as the ‘Step Down IPP Ndokwa Nation Movement’ staged a powerful peaceful protest at the National Assembly.
The group, who spoke through Chukwutem Nwogo also known as ‘SS’ the acting DG of Ndokwa Neku Union Abuja branch comprised concerned citizens from various communities from Ndokwa ethnic nationality in Delta State, decried the protracted power crisis ravaging communities across the Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency.
This long-standing neglect persists despite the region’s status as a host to critical national assets, notably the Okpai Independent Power Plant (IPP).

During the protest, when Rt. Nnamdi Ezechi came out with the National Assembly speakers team to address the protesters, the protesters reserved exceptional praise for their representative, Rt. Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi, the Member representing Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency and Also thanked the speaker of the House of representatives Rt Hon. Tajudeen Abass, PhD, for giving Ndokwa nation and her people a special place in his heart. .

The Speaker, through the Chairman, House Committee on Power, Rt. Hon. Victor Nwokolo, assured the group that their demands had been comprehensively noted and that the House was actively pursuing concrete legislative and oversight actions to address the power challenges in Ndokwa and its environs.
Following the public demonstration, Rt. Hon. Ezechi welcomed the protesting delegation indoors for an intimate discussion.
He used this valuable opportunity to address his constituents, including leaders across the Ndokwa nation, youth bodies, and market women, to provide a detailed account of his stewardship.
He highlighted several key activities, efforts, and achievements since assuming office, emphasizing his focus on securing sustainable infrastructure.
Crucially, Rt. Hon. Ezechi sought to dispel what he termed a “false narrative” prevalent in some quarters: the perception that some Ndokwa leaders do not have Ndokwa nation best interests at heart.
He urged his constituents to clear these negative perceptions from their minds, assuring them that collective efforts toward progress are genuine and intensifying.

In his briefing, Hon. Ezechi reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to restoring electricity. He provided updates on his ongoing engagements with Oando Plc, the new owners of Agip, concerning the stalled Okpai IPP Phase II project. He stressed that significant legislative correspondences have been initiated, coupled with the House Committee’s oversight actions, all geared toward ensuring the project’s immediate resumption.

He specifically acknowledged their decisive intervention in securing the payment of compensations for the right-of-way acquisition, which was instrumental in allowing the transmission projects to commence. Hon. Ezechi also recognized the current administration’s ongoing work in restoring power to several communities in Ndokwa land under the State Government’s restoration plan, noting that more areas are being connected.
